چکیده

Hot–press forming steels are formed in a fully austenitic state followed by die– quenching in order to generate martensite and achieve a strong steel. The ductility however, tends to be limited. We explore in this work a novel steel design in which the forming operation is in the two–phase austenite and ferrite field, so that the quenching results in a dual–phase ferrite and martensite microstructure at ambient temperature. It is demonstrated that better properties are achieved. The interpretation of the mechanisms of deformation during tensile testing indicate that the ductility can be further enhanced without compromising strength. The new steel also can be heated to temperature which is lower than that used for conventional hot–press forming steels, before transfer into the forming press.

Flow Behavior of SP-700 Titanium Alloy During Hot Tensile Deformation in α+β and β Phase Regions

In this paper, in order to study the flow behavior and elongation of as-cast ingots of SP-700 titanium alloy, hot tensile test was done in α/β dual phase and β single phase regions using strain rate of 0.1 s-1. Results showed that the hot tensile behavior of SP-700 in the α/β dual phase region (700-900 ºC) was different from the β single phase one (950-1100 ºC) due to the nature of alpha and be...

A comparative study on constitutive modeling of hot deformation flow curves in AZ91 magnesium alloy

Modeling the flow curves of materials at elevated temperatures is the first step in mathematical simulation of the hot deformation processes of them. In this work a comparative study was provided to examine the capability of three different constitutive equations in modeling the hot deformation flow curves of AZ91 magnesium alloy. For this, the Arrhenius equation with strain dependent constants...

Investigation of Ca in the Microstructural Evolution and Porosity Analysis of ZK60 Alloy in As-Cast and Extruded Conditions

This research work has been carried out to study the effect of different Ca contents (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0) on the microstructure and porosity content of ZK60 alloys. The samples were examined by using optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to evaluate the modification efficiency of the alloy with different Ca concentrations. The cast specimens were modified, homogenized and extru...

Dynamic Recrystallization Behavior and Corrosion Resistance of a Dual-Phase Mg-Li Alloy

The hot deformation and dynamic recrystallization behavior of the dual-phase Mg-9Li-3Al-2Sr-2Y alloy had been investigated using a compression test. The typical dual-phase structure was observed, and average of grain size of as-homogenized alloy is about 110 µm. It mainly contains β-Li, α-Mg, Al₄Sr and Al₂Y phases. The dynamic recrystallization (DRX) kinetic was established based on an Avrami t...

A SVM model to predict the hot deformation flow curves of AZ91 magnesium alloy

Abstract In this work, a support vector machine (SVM) model was developed to predict the hot deformation flow curves of AZ91 magnesium alloy. The experimental stress-strain curves, obtained from hot compression testing at different deformation conditions, were sampled. Consequently, a data base with the input variables of the deformation temperature, strain rate and strain and the output variab...
